The CIDG is funded by UKaid from the UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) through the Research, Evidence and Development Initiative (READ-It) programme based at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Authors are occasionally supported by their institution or other source to prepare CIDG Cochrane Reviews.

CIDG reviews are occasionally commissioned by external organizations, such as the World Health Organization.
